Another former Tennessee Titans star is returning to the state to coach high school football. Avery Williamson, who played for the Titans from 2014 to 2021, has been hired as an assistant coach at Jackson Christian School in Jackson, Tennessee.

Williamson, a native of Milan, Tennessee, was a standout linebacker at the University of Kentucky before being drafted by the Titans in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in 106 games for the Titans, recording 548 tackles, 11 sacks, and four interceptions.

After being released by the Titans in 2021, Williamson signed with the New York Jets. He played in 14 games for the Jets before being released in 2022.

Williamson is the latest former Titan to become a high school football coach in Tennessee. In 2021, former Titans wide receiver Nate Washington was hired as the head coach at Whitehaven High School in Memphis.

Williamson’s hiring is a coup for Jackson Christian School. The school is a private Christian school that has won five state championships in football. Williamson will be a valuable asset to the Jackson Christian coaching staff, and he will be able to use his NFL experience to help the school’s players reach their full potential.

Williamson is excited to be back in Tennessee and to be coaching high school football. “I’m really excited to be back in Tennessee and to be able to give back to the game that has given me so much,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with the kids at Jackson Christian and helping them to reach their full potential.”

Williamson’s hiring is a sign of the growing trend of former NFL players becoming high school football coaches. More and more former NFL players are choosing to give back to the game by coaching at the high school level. This is a positive trend, as it allows former NFL players to share their knowledge and experience with young players.

It will be interesting to see how Williamson fares as a high school football coach. He has the potential to be a great coach, and he will be able to use his NFL experience to help the Jackson Christian players reach their full potential.
