Running Back John Smith

John Smith, a running back from Appomattox High School, has committed to play for the University of Virginia. Smith is a 5-star recruit and is ranked as the top running back in the country by 247Sports. He rushed for over 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior.

“I’m excited to play for Coach [Tony] Bennett and the University of Virginia,” Smith said. “I know I’m going to be challenged academically and athletically, but I’m up for the challenge.”

Wide Receiver Jane Doe

Jane Doe, a wide receiver from Patrick Henry High School, has committed to play for the University of North Carolina. Doe is a 4-star recruit and is ranked as the 10th-best wide receiver in the country by 247Sports. She caught over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior.

“I’m excited to play for Coach [Mack] Brown and the University of North Carolina,” Doe said. “I know I’m going to be a part of something special.”

Both Smith and Doe are expected to be major contributors for their respective schools. Smith is expected to be the starting running back at Virginia, while Doe is expected to be a key player in the UNC receiving corps.

Their commitments are a major coup for both schools. Virginia is looking to get back to the top of the ACC, while UNC is looking to build on its recent success.

These commitments are also a sign of the strength of high school football in the area. Both Appomattox and Patrick Henry are perennial powerhouses, and they continue to produce top-level talent.

It will be exciting to see how Smith and Doe perform at the next level. They have the potential to be stars, and they will be sure to make their schools proud.

In addition to the two players mentioned above, here are some other local high school football players who have committed to Power 5 schools:

  • Quarterback Michael Jones – University of Alabama
  • Defensive End James Brown – Ohio State University
